Sam Childers (Gerard Butler) was a killer, drug addict biker who's life changed when he found God. He became a preacher in his own church that he built. He then found God's calling to save and make a shelter for the African children who are being sold to slavery, prostitution and abuse. He's really right for the calling as life in Sudan talks about survival from the bullets of the LRA (Lord's Salvation Army) founded by Joseph Kony. Joseph Kony and the LRA are behind 400,000 killings in Sudan.

In the end of the film, it shows photos of Sam Childers and his family in real life. I admire his heart for choosing a hard and risky life, very different than being in the comfort of his home in Pensylvania.

My American Idol Season 11

You deserve it Phillip Phillips!

Jessica has the vocal prowess. I mean she's a monster to conquer if we talk about technical ability. But this is "American Idol" and people will vote for the one with the total package.

There's a time when I thought Phillip will be voted out because of the kind of laid back style in his performances. But I think he really has the charm for the voters. He only have been in the bottom 3 for once or twice nearing the end of the competition.

Top 2 Showdown

I don't know if the final showdown still has bearing for the idol fans. I think whatever the Top 2 had shown in the last performances didn't affect their votes and that voters have made up their mind who they're going to vote before the end of the show.

But in my own opinion, their performances in the Top 2 Showdown aren't their best. They have sang better songs in the whole stretch of the competition that they should've chosen those songs. I wouldve wanted for Jessica to sing "Sweet Dreams" and "Everybody Has A Dream" songs from Top 9 and 10 respectively. I didn't like her performance of "The Prayer" and her original "Change Nothing."

For Phillip, his performance of "Hard To Handle" (Black Crowes) was for me his best and he should've chosen to sing it in Top 2 Showdown.

For those who are sad for Jessica, dont be. No doubt she will make records and be heard all over the world in the near future. She's making a name in Hollywood music industry! Imagine that!

And who's my American Idol season 11? It's no other than JENIFFER LOPEZ! If you haven't watched the Grand Finale, pls. do and watch out for JLo's sing and dance number. Oh shes so sexy! She has a great voice! And I love it when she shakes her booty!

We Got Tonight, Philip Phillips

So it's Joshua, Jessica and Philip in the Final 3.

Joshua was a monster to conquer. My favorite in his performance was when he sang his self-chosen song "Imagine."

Jessica wasn't screaming tonight. But was still good especially when she sang "My All", a song picked by JLo.

But the one that really touched my heart and made me twitterpated was Philip's last song "We Got Tonight." Waahhhhh!!! it got me screaming, felt like he's singing to me with his sweet, passionate voice and those lovable eyes.

The three proved tonight that theyre worth the title in their own way. Ill vite all three if I could vite :D haha! Tomorrow we'll know who will be in the Final 2.

If you haven't been following this blog, this is my second post about "Better Blogging." The title speaks for itself I suppose.

Last week, we talked about "Music" - to use or not to use it in your blog. And now, we'll talk about a simple yet powerful tool in blogging, which is Comments.

Blogs posts are conversations. It's so exciting to receive comments for your blog posts from people who can appreciate your article! On the other hand, we all know that making comments are useful to promote your own blog.

1. What comment settings are best for your blog?

From observation, I prefer the full page comment location is the most efficient and user-friendly than the embedded and pop-up type. I am personally dismayed every time I try to comment on embedded comment box coz it usually hangs while i type my comments. I need to refresh and retype my comment. Sometimes I just drop making comments in the end.

In Blogger blogs, you can make this setting in Settings>Posts & Comments>Comments>Location>Full Page.

Be sure to install plug-ins to your Wordpress blogs like Akismet to avoid spam from reaching your blog. Word verifications are efficient to prevent receiving spam comments. It is also helpful to use comment platforms like Disqus to better be sure about the profile of your commenters.

2. How should bloggers make comments to others' blog posts?

As I've mentioned, blog commenting is useful for gaining inbound links to your own blog. So how does one make a comment to attract others to visit their blog back?

Thoughtful Comments. It's doubtless disheartening to receive "Great post! Here's mine: http//:...." stock comments. Please let's avoid making stock comments or one-word comments but instead make thoughtful comments that will really show you appreciate the well-thought article. Remember, you sign your name in the comment form so be careful what you are telling the world about yourself through your comments.

Really Read The Post. Sometimes you know what the article is about. But you might interpret it the wrong way so make sure you've read the post .before making a comment.

3. Should you respond to comments in your blog?

How encouraging it is for us bloggers to see comments in our posts. Now your job is not done yet. Obvious reason is be polite. Show your readers that you care for their time by responding to their comments.

According to the article "5 Reasons Why You Should Comment,"

"....it encourages your readers to come back and comment again later.

When I see that the author replies to every comments in his blog, I am encouraged to read his blog posts and comment too, knowing that what I have to say matters. So what do you think about blog comments? I appreciate your comments. Thanks!

Who Do You Think Will Remain For Top 3?

I'm not sure who will the Americans vote this week. But for me, Hollie, among the 4, didn't have her best performances.

Phillip and Joshua's duet rendition of Maroon 5's "This Love" made me smile and laugh. These two could really sing with much emotions.

My question here is, is Jessica being sabotaged? Coz lately her attires, especially last night, looks like she's going to an aerobics class. She looks like a 16 yr. old witch with her hair and makeup. Good thing, in the second set, she changed to an outfit that looked like JLo would also wear. And she sings like a professional artist. Last night, she got another standing ovation from the 3 judges from singing, "I Am Telling You." I'm wishing she wins but not expecting.

Will America vote her?

Ninong Manny Knows

Manny Pacquiao has gone from boxing, to politics, to singing, acting, tv hosting, and is even preaching God's word.

He has a game show in GMA Kapuso called Manny Many Prizes. Aside from the prizes that the contestants win from the show, Manny gives money from his own pocket. There's one time when a contestant won P40,000. He personally gave another P40,000 so the contestant went home with P80,000.

There's a segment "Ninong Knows" where they read a letter from viewers to Ninong Manny. Here, Manny gives most of the financial help from his own generosity.

Never mind Manny's lack of talent in hosting, he has a sincere heart to help the poor people of his land.

I hope people gets inspiration from Manny Pacquiao especially those who are in the politics or businesses and are greatly greatly able to help the needy.

Better Blogging: Should You Add A Music Player To Your Blog?

First thing why I made this blog is to share things that I've learned about blogging through my experiences. And as we all know it, reading is the next best teacher. I'll share to you great knowledge from books, newsletters or information from the web that will help us do better to make the blog world a nice place to live online.

So let's start off with a simple issue here with music. Does adding a music player in your widgets make your blog better? How can it affect your blog traffic?

Have you gone to a site that's responding too slow and later on music is slamming in your face the moment the page opens?

I'm not patient with slow loading pages. And I want to read through blogs without distractions.

That's from my side of the story. So what does the experts say about having music widgets in your blog?

It says in the post "43 Web Design Mistakes You Should Avoid," by Daniel Scocco,

"Do not play music."

If you need to put an audio file to your blog, let your visitors start it by pressing the play button. Readers should feel that they're in control of your site.

Visitors should have access to your blog contents the faster the better. And when your media player is in auto-play, the system needs to work harder to deliver the page and the media at the same time. It makes loading time longer which is an obvious turn-off to readers who would've wanted to browse more through your other blog pages.

Edward Khoo said in "10 Reasons Why Your Blog Sucks,"

Do not add music to your site. Half the people won't like it and the other half will find it's a distraction.

I'm both half of the people and the other half of the people.

I know you love to hear your favorite artists as you open your blog, but please try to consider your readers.

Out in the province, I wasn't able to watch American Idol for two weeks. Then when I can came back, Colton Dixon was nowhere in sight. Huhuhuhu! Not much excited anymore for AI. Though I still watch the performances and weekly results.

Skylar is now out of the game. And Hollie was surprisingly good this week with her rendition of "Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis. She might be the winner this season. Though I'm not happy with that coz I would really have wanted Colton to win. He's the one who is mostly deserving to be an American Idol among the finalists.

Who's my bet now? Hope there's a wild card. :)

Woohoo! At last!

My Internet connection is fast and not intermittent. I ditched our smartbroken, err, smart broadband and switched to a more stable connection with Royal Cable.

I got the cable tv and 512 mbps with wifi package. Monthly costs P1,175. It's like I just added a hundred pesos to my old broadband connection to get an efficient Internet connection plus the 78 tv channels.

So if you have a chance to choose from broadband and cable Internet, I suggest you get the latter. Telling you through experience.

Jessica Sanchez Got The Least Votes...WHAT?!

This is so shocking! I was just telling you the other day how good Jessica was in the last performance. And then results say she's in the bottom if the list. The judges have to go up on stage to declare that she's saved as she began to sing her supposedly final song. Judges were furious and told America to vote for the best.

It's really a big question of how and why. Is this an issue of racism coz she's Asian and a Filipina? There's a big population of Filipinos in the US. Didn't they vote for her?

Another thing that shocks me is why Hollie keeps on getting votes when obviously she's not on the same level of performance as with the other contenders. Does having Euro, err, English roots got something to do with this?

Judges only have one save for every season. Jessica is saved for now but she can't be if America won't vote for her next week.

Let's see what happens to American Idol S11.

11th American Idol Top 7 Sing 2010-2012 Songs

My fave this week is our very own Jessica Sanchez singing Jazmine Sullivan's "Stuttering." JLo said nobody sings like she does. Randy said, "It's superb."

Colton played the piano singing "Loved The Way You Lie" by Skylar Grey. Steven said that if Colton's going to record that song tonight, he can sell it big. My heart really goes out to Colton. It's like he's not in a competition but he's already a professional artist.

Now Hollie singing "Perfect" is not so perfect though she sang better this week than last week. She can hit the high notes but she still lacks the emotions and connection to the audience. She's still in the bottom of my list.

The duet and trio pformances by the contenders were really entertaining. You'll really sense that they're having a lot of fun because they're not judged in these song numbers. And so they deliver well.

Tomorrow, let's see who gets on to Top 6 of American Idol in Star World 6:00PM.

Curtain Call For Deandre

It's the final curtain call for Deandre last week at the American Idol season 11.

I thought Hollie will be the one eliminated. She sang "Flashdance" last week based on the 80s theme. But her performance was pitchy all over as the judges commented. Her performances hasn't been good for weeks compared to how other contenders perform. It's the same as Deandre's, only Hollie has more versatility than the former.

The ones who stand out for me last week were our very own, Jessica Sanchez singing Whitney Houston's "How Will I Know," Colton Dixon with his version of Cindy Lauper's "Time After Time," and Skylar with Bette Midler's "Wind Beneath My Wings."

Still my heart calls for Colton! Colton! Colton! The season's getting harder and harder so Steven Tyler said people should vote for the one who got the whole package. Though Phillip got it too, Colton will beat him with a greater range of versatility.

Not only do we have a fellow Filipino in American Idol season 11 through Jessica Sanchez. A Filipino contender is also a finalist in So You Think You Can Dance through Tadd Gadduang. He's one of the three male finalists in season 8 so I hope he wins. He's good compared to the other two male dancers.

BlogPress VS. Blogsy Blogging App For iPad

While I was editing my post last night, BlogPress, the app I'm using suddenly crashed. It doesn't open anymore. The first time it happened they were able to fix it. And now it happened again. I can't wait anymore for them to fix it so I looked for another blogging app for iPad and found Blogsy. Downloaded it for $4.55. I'm now using Blogsy.

Blogsy's user interface is quite the same with blogger or wordpress editor. Though I have used to BlogPress' UI which is simpler. Only, uploading photo is taking too long here in Blogsy. The photo is still uploading while I'm typing as of the moment. ~~In BlogPress, photos are uploaded the same time with publishing the post.~~

But I think I'll go back to BlogPress where photo and video uploading is easier.

AI 11 Top 9 Recap

Last week's performances made the judges do a standing ovation five times. I think this is the first time it happened in American Idol history. They stood up for Elise Testone, Joshua Ledet, Phil Phillips, Colton Dixon and Deandre Brackensick.

Jessica Sanchez, our very own Filipino contender sang Beyonce's song "Sweet Dreams" in a ballad rendition. She's no doubt sung it very good, showing her vocal abilities once more.

My favorite last week is Colton Dixon for singing "Everything" by Lighthouse. I love his performance as it shows his adoration for God who gave him the talents. Ryan Seacrest asked him what was he thinking when he was quiet the minute before he pressed those piano keys last week. And he said, he was praying to God to use him and he just wants to shine for Him. That made me love him all the more. Though Jimmy said that he wasn't able to have the poise beyond the emotion. Still I'm really eyeing after Colton Dixon.

The idols has just moved in to the Hollywood Hills mansion. But one is moving out already. Skylar, Hollie and Heejun were in the bottom three but Heejun was the last man standing as the two girls were called safe.

He did a reprise of the song "A Song For You." but the judges didn't use their one save option this time.

I standby for the idol performances as well as guest performers at elimination nights like last week's Nicki Minaj and Idol comeback Scotty McCreery.

I love all the explosions and blasts I get from this game. This is what I do in every little spare time. My son told me I'm an addict. Haha!

You can play online or offline. The goal is to put three or more of the same jewels horizontally or vertically. It gets faster and faster when you blast the jewels and you get blazing fire when you blast simultaneously. It's a very exciting game. Try to get the highest score in one minute.

12 American Idol Contestants Minus 2

This week, we heard another round of songs rendered by the American Idol contestants. They had to pick songs from their birth year.

But the night of the final rehearsal was heartbreaking as Jermaine was called by the executives for a talk. There were 4 charges against him regarding fights in year 2011. Jermaine reasoned that he has plans of paying for those charges. The executives said that they were waiting for Jermaine to come up to them for help but he remained silent about it. He said he was afraid to be judged that's why he chose to not talk about it. The executives decision has been made to disqualify him from the competition.

At the performance night, my favorites were Philip, Colton and Joshua. These guys always sing like it's so natural for them belting out those notes. It didn't look like Philip had surgery to remove his kidney stones during the week. Joshua had a standing ovation again from the judges and the audience for the song "When A Man Loves A Woman." I just love looking at Philip's gray eyes and Colton's rock charisma is enticing. Judges were again amazed where a small girl like Hollie gets the big voice after she sang "The Power Of Love." It's amazing how Heejun Han and Deandre were obviously loved by American Idol text voters despite the judges comments of their wrong choice of songs. I still think Jessica Sanchez showed how good she is on stage even though the judges said that the song didn't bring out the best in her voice.

It's obvious for me though, that Shannon Magrane would be in the bottom of the list after picking a fight with a giant song "One Sweet Day." She finally said goodbye during the elimination night, with the judges not using their "save" option.

Will A Filipina Be The Next American Idol?

Jessica Sanchez was born to a Mexican father and Filipina mother. I've followed American Idol season 11 and her every performance was always good. It can be sensed that she's so used to performing on stage already at a young age of 16. Steven Tyler said she could be the 'one' after she sang Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You. Though I believe she sang it good, coz that's a very hard song, but I think it's over rated by the judges. Maybe because no one has done that in American Idol. I wonder if they have seen Charice P. sing Whitney Houston songs.

If ever Jessica Sanchez wins American Idol 11, Filipinos around the world will be proud again being one.

Revenge

I'm watching Revenge, a tv series at Star World. It has got me really hooked.

The story is about a girl who goes back to "The Hamptons" to give revenge to the people who destroyed her family. It's not that I encourage or teach myself to revenge but I'm watching this tv series coz I want to find out what would happen to this girl avenger, Emily Thorne. There's always something interesting in every episode.

Plus, Joshua Bowman or Daniel in the series is just so adorable.

Done Reading Breaking Dawn

Was so thrilled to find out that the book continues through Book 3. It ended like a fairy - tale. In my wishful thinking, there would be another book to continue Edward and Bella's love story. They're vampires living forever, fictionally of course, so their love story never ends. As well as I want to know how Stephenie might want to continue the love story between a vampire kid and a werewolf. Oops, I don't intend to be a spoiler. But that's just so exciting! There were conflicts presented in the end so it triggered me to think that there is a possibility of another book. Or am I just being very carried away.

In the meantime, I'm so looking forward for Breaking Dawn Part 2.

Breaking Dawn In My iBooks

Got a copy of Breaking Dawn at last! I remembered momLiz coyly said once that she thought its a book about chess. Haha!

I'm in Book 2 already. It's in Jacob's perspective this time, which is good to understand Jacob and the story more. The story is all the more exciting in a werewolf's perspective.

Book 1 is interesting coz of the honeymoon part. But I think Book 2 is the one more exciting. Now I'm starting to get thrilled for Breaking Dawn Part 2 movie.

I do my reading once in a while as I have priorities in the home. But it's also good to wallow, though I get tempted to do long readings and finish the whole book at once. By the way, it's 552 pages. I'm in 151, not even half.
