"By making computers personal and putting the internet in our pockets, he made the information revolution bot only accessible, but intuitive and fun." - President Barrrack Obama
"Steve, thank you for being a mentor and a friend. Thanks for showing that what you build can change the world. I will miss you." - Mark Zuckerberg (via Facebook), Creator of Facebook
"He was a great man with incredible achievements and amazing brilliance. He always seemed to be able to say in very few words what you actually been thinking before you thought it. His focus on the user experience above all else has always been an inspiration to me. He was very kind to reach out to me as I became CEO of Google and spend time offering his advice and knowledge even though he was not at all well. My thoughts and Google's are with his family and the whole Apple family." - Larry Page, CEO of Google
Steve and I first met nearly 30 years ago and have been colleagues, competitors and friends over the course of more than half our lives. The world sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come. For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it's been an insanely great honor." - Bill Gates, Microsoft co-founder and long-time rivalSteve Jobs's resignation as CEO of Apple last August 2011 caused a 5% drop after an hour of announcement. This is relatively small as he's been on medical leave already in January 2011. While Walt Disney Co., where he served as director, reported a drop of 1.5% shares. He 's the biggest shareholder with 7%, higher than the business family member, Disney, who until his death has 1% in stocks.
I asked an avid Apple patron who's non other than my hubby.
Q: Will Apple lose its glow after losing Jobs?
A: Definitely yes. But hopefully, not completely. Steve Jobs was a visionary.
One example of his inventions is the Mac Book Air. It's built with much thought about the convenience of the user. Very easy to carry around as it's very thin and lightweight. With built in blutooth, it only has two USB slots. It opted out the built-in CD as you won't need them all the time. It has the best chicklet-type keys. And of course, with the huge glass and smart trackpad, you won't need to use a mouse.
Steve Jobs was the main brain of the first commercially successful small computer in the world, the Macintosh, which changed the information technology and our lives today. Who would ever think someone who exchanges Coke caps for food and attended only one semester in college will later be a legend and icon who introduced popular trademarks of today such as iPod, iPhone, Mac computers, and iPad ?
My reaction: Thank you Steve Jobs!
